SAVY was established as an umbrella organisation in 1991 with the purpose of supporting all aspects of voluntary youth. SAVY shares a close relationship with many voluntary sector partners and Stockport Council Services for Young People.
Supported over 1500 Young People into volunteering opportunities in the community.
Create over 50 tailor made and inspiring voluntary projects that have given over 2700 hours to the community of Stockport. Worked intensively with over 250 Young People to increase their self confidence, skills and employability. Enabled over 300 Young People to gain a nationally recognised accreditation.
Created over 1100 volunteer opportunities for Young People in local community groups and organisations. Conducted training sessions to 50 Young People already volunteering in the community to increase their skills. Conducted child protection, safeguarding and introduction to youth work training. Supported over 60 groups with information and development, whether this is developing policies and procedures or applying for charitable status. SAVY currently have over 300 community and voluntary groups whom access various areas of our service. Processed over 800 volunteer CRB applications on behalf of groups.
Increased the membership of voluntary youth groups to 64. Worked with all groups to ensure a minimum standard of best practice in youth work. Provided training to voluntary youth groups on topics such as diversity, sexual health. Provided over £40,000 of grants to voluntary youth groups.
Facilitated a Youth Action Team whom have conducted several regional events on voluntary youth. Involved Young People in raising awareness on causes that they feel are important to champion. Supported the development of over 20 youth led projects. Involved Young People in borough wide events such as black history month and Volunteer matters
