FREE CHILD PROTECTION-BASIC AWARENESS LEVEL 1 TRAINING FOR VOLUNTEERS This training is funded by CWDC via the Stockport Children’s Workforce Development Strategy Who is the course for:This course is open to anyone who volunteers to work with children and young people in the Community, Voluntary & Faith sector who require basic training in safeguarding children. Participants will be certified by the Stockport Local Safeguarding Children’s Board.
AIM The training session will provide an introduction to the recognition of child abuse and what you need to do. FREE DISABILITY AWARENESS TRAINING Delivered by Stockport Cerebral Palsy Society and Parents in Partnership Aim: The aim of the course is to provide participants with an understanding of disability. FREE DRUG AND ALCOHOL AWARENESS TRAINING One day training programme Who is it for? This training is for any staff member or volunteer who has contact with members of the public in Stockport who may have drug and alcohol issues. Aim The aim of this training is to increase awareness of drug and alcohol misuse and how motivational language can help to change people’s behaviour. Learning objectivesOn completion of the programme participants will be able to: § Identify different types of drugs and alcohol and understand their effects and legal implications § Identify and consider their own and other individuals’ attitudes and myths towards drug and alcohol use § Compare theories which aim to identify why an individual may choose to use drugs and alcohol § Demonstrate an understanding of the social, psychological and physical aspects of drug and alcohol use § Understand the role of motivational interviewing in helping people to change § Identify drug and alcohol services in Stockport and how to contact them Dates of Training 21st June 2011 16th August 2011 WORKING WITH YOUNG PEOPLE TRAINING Please note that there is another course which is especially for people who work with young people (25yrs and under).
