National Citizenship Scheme in Stockport

On behalf of The Challenge Network SAVY are very proud to promote the National Citizenship scheme in Stockport. This is an excellent opportunity for Young People and local voluntary and community groups to become more involved with each other.  Please see the information below and the attachments provided by The Challenge Network.

'The Challenge is a Youth and Community programme, part of a government initiative called National Citizen Service, for 16 year-olds founded on the belief that our community is strongest when people from different backgrounds come together.  We aim to inspire and connect young people across Britain to strengthen their communities.

In 2011 TCN worked in partnership with a number of charities in and around Greater Manchester and Lancashire including Bury Blind Society, The Samaritans, Guide Dogs for the blind and several local community centres. Around 500 young people were involved in raising over £6500 for local charities and carrying out various action projects including painting a new community centre, restoring park pathways, and awareness raising.

In the summer of 2012 we will be running the programme in the Stockport area and are looking for local organisations interested in sharing our vision.  If you are a community group, charity or non-profit organisation we would love to work with you to help young people from our programme understand more about their community and contribute to the work of your organisation.
