Youth Action Team Member!

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone wanting to try something new, make new friends, gain new skills and enhance your C.V. for job and university applications!

Examples of transferable skills we feel we have gained from the YAT are:

Teamwork, communication skills, the chance to work with people of all ages and abilities, leadership skills and planning & organisational skills.
We also have access to training such as Diversity Training, Child Protection Training, First Aid, Disability Awareness and also the chance to gain accreditation for our volunteering. Having access to many types of training is a great opportunity, and it gives the YAT members great experience.

Examples of projects we have facilitated in the past include:
- Creation of a podcast which is featured on the council website. To hear the podcast click here: http://www.stockport.gov.uk/doitonline/multimedia/volunteeringpodcasts
- Planned and facilItated a project for young disabled people in Heaton Moor. (drama, art & creative writing).
- We helped organise a Volunteer Celebration day last summer in Stockport- including making decisions on activities on the day & helped with the running of stalls.
- Championed a charity of our choice. Paid a visit to Beechwood Cancer Care, promoted the good work of the charity through art work and an information leaflet.

We normally meet on Thursday evenings every few weeks for 1-2 hours and attendance is required during the week and at weekends for occasional project work. If you are an open minded, enthusiastic individual who would like to get involved in helping their local community then we think the YAT team could be just the volunteering opportunity for you!!

If you would like to become a member of the YAT or get more information then please call 01614770246 or email either Vicky:  vicky@stockportsavy.org.uk or Niamh: niamh@stockportsavy.org.uk.
