Stockport Children’s Trust is working together with many partners in the private, voluntary, community, independent and faith sectors in providing services to the children, young people and families of Stockport.
This training programme is delivered through the Stockport Workforce Partnership Development Strategy in conjunction with Stockport Action for Voluntary Youth (SAVY) to support and enable the children’s workforce to deliver these services,
May to July 2012 Venues as Stated SAFEGUARDING LEVEL 1-BASIC AWARENESS COURSE FOR THE PVI SECTOR (This course should be done every 3 years) This course is certified by the Stockport Local Safeguarding Children’s Board. Recognise concerns about a child or young person including signs and symptoms Appreciate own role and that of others Contribute and take whatever actions are needed to safeguard children and young people 14th May 6pm-9pm Heaton Moor Centre 27th June 6-9pm Heaton Moor Centre How can you engage effectively with children, young people and families? How can you build good working professional relationships? Do you enable clear communication? How do you make sure you record the right information? 16th May 6pm -9pm Walthew House Learn how children develop, what should they be able to do at each stage of life. Learn why attachment is so important and consequences of poor attachment. What can we do to support children and families with attachment problems? Resilience- What is it and why are some children able to cope and other not? And what can you do to build resilience? 20th June 1pm-4pm Walthew House Do you work alone with children, young people and families? Explore the differences between professional and personal relationships? Are you aware of the everyday risks to yourself in your work/role and how to avoid those risks Learn how to undertake a simple risk assessment to protect yourself and others? 13th June 6pm - 9pm Walthew House Explore feelings around conflict, aggression and violence Understand anger cycles and methods for managing the situation Practical strategies and techniques for dealing with difficult situations and how to stay in control. 9th July 1pm- 4pm 26th June - all day Walthew House What are Diversity, Equality and Inclusion and why do they matter? What is political correctness and what is the right thing to say? What is the legislation relating to diversity and equality? How can little changes make a big difference to the people who use your service 25th May 1.00pm -4.00pm Walthew House Learn a range of methods to undertake direct work which allow the child/parent to express themselves Learn techniques to provide a focus and dilute the intensity of the interaction for the child/parent Build a relationship by using a collaborative activity for worker and child/parent To Be Confirmed DISABILTY aWARENESS · What is disability and how important is Language? · Values and attitudes towards children with disabilities and identify a range of myths and stereotypes · Identifying barriers and overcoming them and practical ways to improve your service delivery · Equality Act 2010 and Disability Discrimination 20th April 2012 (9.30-12.30) 15th May 2012 (13.30-16.30) 7th June 2012 (09.30-12.30) 9th July 2012 (09.30-12.30) Fred Perry House ASTHMA AWARENESs Asthma UK is the charity dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the 5.4 million people in the UK whose lives are affected by asthma. The interactive sessions allow attendees to explore using inhalers and other asthma related equipment. Attendees also receive a useful information pack.
