Stockport Action for Voluntary Youth Supporting all aspects of voluntary youth!

As a team we have carried out a number of projects - each one giving members new experiences and knowledge.

ABC Youth Group  We planned an activity and created a project for a local youth group called ABC in Heaton Moor - the members of the youth group have learning disabilities. As a team we together planned a project - which included helping the members of the youth group decorate and create their own rain maker, and then we helped them create different symbols which represented different types of weather. The members put together a weather forecast - this project was quite simple but the members had a great time! And we enjoyed it too - it was a great opportunity to have been involved in.

Beechwood Visit  We championed a local charity, and so we decided to choose Beechwood Cancer Care because of all the work the charity does. We created a leaflet and also designed and made a large V (for Vinvolved) to represent Beechwood at a city centre campaign. This project involved using arts and crafts materials to create the large V, which we painted.

Podcast  We were asked about volunteering, and was given the opportunity to have our voices recorded to create a podcast. In the podcast the YAT members decribed what they like best about volunteering, and why they think volunteering is important. If you're interested in becoming part of the YAT team - have a listen!

 Volunteer Celebration  We held a summer event, to celebrate volunteers in Stockport and the work they had done. We had our own stall, as the YAT team, where we gave volunteers certificates and there were other stalls too, which included a tombola and a stall selling cakes. Also we organised which activities would be bes to be there on the day - activities such as human demolish and mini golf. The event was great fun - and we celebrated all the work that volunteers had done too!
